July 4th - Happy Birthday

If you're an American, you know, or at least you should know that you are blessed to live in this great nation. Although this blog is about the I wanted to set time aside just to Thank the USA and thank the Lord for blessing it. Also, let's remember our troops, past veterans & their families sacrifices.

Tomorrow is America's birthday; so while you're out having swim partys & cookouts, be sure to remember why you have the opportunity to start a business of your own and why your future, whether in or something else, can be anything you want it to be if you do what it takes.  America, the opportunity is here, greater than ever, don't waste it.

Happy Birthday USA!!!!!!

I'm a coke and chips / candy bar/ danish-pastry type vendor. I own my machines and have been in business for about 10 years. Recently it has come to my attention that other companies like mine have ceased paying commissions on accounts because the cost of supplying product has increased so much that it was impossible to pay commissions to the locations and still offer product at a reasonable price. My candy bars cost me almost .40 cents each and I sell them for .65 . At 1st that sounds like a .25 cent profit per bar, but one must consider the cost of gasoline , insurance, plus commissions of .07 cents right off the top! The profit margine is just not enough to stay in business, after expenses if I continue paying commissions… but what happens when I tell my accounts that I must cease paying them commissions and explain why? Will they contact another company that will lie to them and promise them commissions long enough to get in the door only to flip flop and say that they cannot pay shortly after they get the account? Am I the last guy to find out that many vending companies ceased paying commissions? What's your experiance? Do you pay commissions on your accounts? How can you afford it and stay in business? My cokes cost me about .30 and I sell them for .60 cents. Paying .06 to .12 cents per can commission! After paying for the product and gasoline and note payments each month there's nothing left! Some times I have to subsidize from my other business to even pay the commissions ! Your thoughts on the matter?
Thanks!
