Please refresh the page and retry. B eloved chef Nigella Lawson is known for her sumptuous, indulgent yet easy recipes and never shies away from luxuriantly pouring in cream. This is a fact well-known about our national treasure - but Italians appear to be unimpressed by her excess. The cook has upset Italians to the point of outrage after posting her popular carbonara recipe on her Facebook page. She has been told that her cookery is a "disgrace" and she may as well "make it with turkey twizzlers" after posting her recipe which contains nutmeg, wine and cream on her page.
Now it seems Nigella Lawson's trip to the shops on a London bus for her cookery show wasn't quite what it seemed either. Questions are also being asked about the "friends" who gather to taste her recipes at the end of each programme. Producers have admitted that they hired the bus Miss Lawson rode on, filling it with extras pretending to read the newspapers as normal passengers. Nigella Lawson told a court "If you want to put me on trial, put me on trial" today as she repeatedly denied being a "regular cocaine user". The celebrity cook, who has admitted using cocaine and cannabis in the past, denied stashing the class A drug in a box containing her late husband's wedding rings as she gave evidence in the fraud trial of two of her former personal assistants. Under cross-examination at Isleworth Crown Court in west London, Ms Lawson said she had "never knowingly" met a drug dealer and never exchanged money for cocaine. As questions of her drug use continued, Ms Lawson said: "I really feel if you want to put me on trial, put me on trial. I don't feel it is right to have me here as a witness for the Crown and treat me like this. Karina Arden, representing defendant Francesca Grillo, accused Ms Lawson of "very regular use of cocaine" which "escalated in the last five years". Ms Lawson denied she kept cocaine in a hollow "fake book" alongside jewellery given to her by her mother and two grandmothers.
